How do I get there? Kathmandu is well-connected, with daily flights offered by major airlines such as Thai Airways, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, and Malaysian Airlines. If you’re planning to explore more of Nepal beyond your tour, we recommend starting your adventure with us. This way, you’ll enjoy an airport pickup, a seamless introduction to the country, and expert guidance to help you prepare for your solo travels. Alternatively, you can opt for our tour as a complete in-and-out experience. In this case, we’ll handle both your airport pickup and drop-off, ensuring a smooth and stress-free journey from start to finish.
Where’s my Accommodation in Kathmandu? You’ll stay in a great little hotel nestled in the heart of Thamel, Kathmandu, just steps away from the World Horizons office. This prime location ensures our team is always nearby to provide assistance and support whenever needed, offering you both convenience and peace of mind during your stay.
Will my phone work in Nepal?
Your mobile phone will pretty much work everywhere on this trip if you are with Telstra and it’s activated for global roaming. You can also grab a SIM card at the airport on arrival or close by your hotel in Thamel.
Do I need to bring cash with me?
The local currency of Nepal is the Nepalese Rupee. ATM’s are everywhere in Kathmandu, but we’d suggest you travel with a bit of cash as well? Australian dollars are fine. Credit cards are accepted all over Kathmandu.
What can I do before or after this trip?
If you wish to arrive in Nepal before your trip, or do something or afterwards we are always ready to assist. If it’s flights to Lukla to do the Everest trip on your own, a guide to take you to the Annapurna region, a jungle safari in Chitwan, just let us know and we’ll be able to help you out.
How do I get a Visa?
You can easily get a visa on arrival in Kathmandu. Either for 15 or 30 days. Just have some AUD cash on hand when coming into Kathmandu.
Is it safe?
Absolutely. World Horizons ensures top-tier safety on all our school trips, including grad trips to Nepal. From departure to return, our team provides full support and guidance. In Nepal, we work with trusted local providers and carefully chosen accommodations to prioritize safety. Our experienced staff accompany the group throughout, with a well-planned itinerary and robust health and safety measures. Once you’ve settled in, it’s time to explore your new surroundings. Thamel is a fun area with lots of great restaurants, cafes, shops, and even some nightlife.
