This way, you’ll enjoy an airport pickup, a seamless introduction to the country, and expert guidance to help you prepare for your solo travels. Alternatively, you can opt for our tour as a complete in-and-out experience. In this case, we’ll handle both your airport pickup and drop-off, ensuring a smooth and stress-free journey from start to finish.
Will my phone work in Nepal?
Your mobile phone will pretty much work everywhere on this trip if you are with Telstra and it’s activated for global roaming. You can also grab a SIM card at the airport on arrival or close by your hotel in Thamel.
What about money?
The local currency of Nepal is the Nepalese Rupee. ATM’s are everywhere in Kathmandu, but we’d suggest you travel with a bit of cash as well? Australian dollars are fine. Credit cards are accepted all over Kathmandu.
What can I do before or after this trip?
If you wish to arrive in Nepal before your trip, or do something or afterwards we are always ready to assist, just let us know and we’ll be able to help you out.
How do I get a Visa?
You can easily get a visa on arrival in Kathmandu. Either for 15 or 30 days. Just have some AUD cash on hand when coming into Kathmandu.

After a early lunch, it’s time to take a walk up to Bom Danda and its surroundings. The altitude of approximately 3,000m might take your breath away, but it’s the perfect way to acclimatize and prepare for the days ahead. Don’t forget to visit the Nicole Pasang Lhamu Hospital, where you’ll see firsthand how it serves both the locals and tourists.

Here’s a hot tip for the day: try to grab a seat on the left-hand side of the plane during your flight to Lukla. If you’re lucky enough to catch good weather, you’ll be treated to a spectacular view of the Himalayan snow line. And just before landing at Lukla airport, brace yourself for a thrilling moment as the plane suddenly gains altitude to fly over the Lamjura pass. Overnight stay at Everest Summit Lodge in Lukla.
An early start after breakfast is planned to avoid the rush of trekkers arriving from Kathmandu. Passing by lovely Sherpa settlements, along gentle undulating trails and enjoying the marvelous scenery of the Dudh Kosi valley, you arrive at the village of Phakding (2,652 m). After a break for lunch, you continue on for approximately three more hours to Monjo. The sounds of plodding porters with portable music to their ears, the cacophonic mix of myriad languages, strange sounding birds, weather-beaten, windblown trekkers winding their way back to Lukla, prayer flag a-flutter, the brightly painted tea houses and of course the dramatic scenery are memories to treasure of this first day on the trail.
Overnight – Everest Summit Lodge, Monjo
Get ready for an epic adventure with Jigme! He’s taking you on a day hike to Thakchok Danda, where you’ll be awestruck by the breathtaking views of Kongde Ri, Thamserku and Numbur Himal. Trust us, the views are not just good or great, they are absolutely stupendous!
Of course, safety is paramount, and Jigme is an expert in high altitude trekking. He’ll guide you and provide information on the dangers of high altitude, and he’ll be keeping a watchful eye for any common symptoms. But don’t be alarmed if you feel a little tired or headachy after a long day of trekking – a good cup of Nepalese tea, a refreshing drink of water, and some rest will make you feel as good as new.
And let’s not forget the picnic lunch that will be provided during the 6-hour trek. It’s sure to be a feast for your senses, as you take in the stunning scenery and enjoy some delicious food.
Overnight – Everest Summit Lodge, Monjo
Just a mere five-minute stroll from the lodge, and you will be transported to the magnificent realm of Everest National Park, where visitors are required to complete the entry formalities. Today’s trek is not for the faint of heart, but take it easy, savoring the stunning scenery as you gradually ascend towards Namche Bazar. The path meanders through two suspension bridges as you zigzag along the Dudh Koshi River, before embarking on the arduous climb to Namche. Though challenging, with plenty of opportunities to catch your breath, and a slow but steady pace, you will eventually reach the pinnacle. The trail leading to Namche Bazar is comfortably broad and well-marked. Embark on your journey in the refreshing morning air, making it easier to breathe and adapt to the increasing altitude. After three leisurely hours of walking, you will arrive at the heart of Khumbu, the vibrant Namche Bazar.
During today’s expedition, you will encounter the awe-inspiring Hillary Bridge, named in honor of the legendary Sir Edmund of Everest. As you trek up the winding path, nearly halfway up the hill towards Namche Bazar, if the sky is clear, your first glimpse of Everest and Lhotse will come into view, a truly mesmerizing sight.
For overnight accommodation, rest assured that we have secured the finest lodgings available in Namche Bazar. As we don’t have a Summit Lodge in this location, we have meticulously selected three premium options, and have already made the necessary reservations well in advance of your arrival.
As we make our way towards the charming village of Khunde, we’ll be treated to one of the most picturesque and pleasurable walks of our trip. Khunde is particularly renowned for its exceptionally well-managed medical facility, the Hillary hospital. Following a brief visit, we’ll continue our ascent towards the Everest Views Hotel, where we’ll indulge in a delightful lunch while taking in the breathtaking views of Kusum Kanguru, Tamserku, and Kangtaga. Additionally, we’ll have the opportunity to marvel at the stunning Ama Dablam, widely considered the most stunning peak in the entire Himalayan range, as well as Cholaste, the massive south wall of Nupste and Lhotse, and the imposing triangular form of Mt Everest in the distance. Our descent from lunch will be equally enjoyable, leading us to the luxurious Tashinga Lodge, where we’ll be spending the night.

It’s hard to believe that you had to walk all the way up here, but let’s embrace our strong will and push further up to the top of a lush grassy hill adorned with colorful prayer flags. At 5005 meters, you’ll reach the summit of Sherkhim Peak – a midway point between the base camp and advanced camp. You won’t find a better vantage point to take in the breathtaking views of this stunning region.

Our Lodges
World Horizons has partnered with Everest Summit Lodges to deliver unparalleled comfort amidst breathtaking high-altitude landscapes. These exceptional sanctuaries seamlessly blend warm hospitality, outstanding service, and awe-inspiring views, creating an unforgettable experience for every guest.
Pangboche was our last lodge during our amazing trek, following our stays at Lukla, Monjo, and Tashinga. Positioned perfectly as a starting point for the Ama Dablam base camp, the hike up and back was challenging. However, the thought of a satisfying dinner and comfortable bed awaiting us at the end of the day made it more bearable.
We were so impressed with the exceptional food and hospitable staff at every lodge we stayed in. Additionally, our duffle bags were always clean and waiting for us at the next lodge. We would like to express our gratitude to World Horizons, our fantastic guide Jigme, our incredible porters, and all those associated with World Horizons for providing us with such a remarkable experience.
